Bill 23 ‘benefits private interests at the expense of public interests’: AMO

The Build More Homes Faster Act, representing a range of legislative changes aimed at addressing the ongoing housing crisis in the province, had Kawartha Lakes council speaking in one voice at its Nov. 22 meeting.

It was not, however, singing its praises.

“I think it’s going to aid the development community and not produce housing to people that really need housing,” Ward 2 councillor Pat Warren told council, when bringing forward a motion to support a submission from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), outlining a long list of concerns with Bill 23.
